Media Expert and Cultural Advisor: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Achievements

An accomplished cultural advisor and a journalist with more than 15 years of experience in the field, Lynn Tehini Kassatly has proved herself a reference in combining media and culture through innovative and enriching projects. Her journey spans across different formats and platforms: from creating, producing,
hosting radio or TV shows or digital platforms, taking part in talks and conferences in Europe and the Middle east to collaborating as an expert in the cultural field.

Cultural Media Leader and Heritage Advocate: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Impactful Career

She is currently a managing editor – based in Paris – for Arab News in French, the only French speaking media in the Gulf area. With the support of the European delegation in Lebanon, she also produces and presents the only radio show dedicated to successful women in Lebanon: Une femme, une histoire on Ici
Beyrouth.

Lynn is also the co-founder of the Beirut Heritage Initiative, an independent and inclusive collective in favour of restoring the built and cultural heritage of Beirut after the August 4 explosion. She regularly presents and moderates conferences and hosts Tv and online shows in Europe and the Arab
world and collaborated as an expert in the cultural field for various consultancy firms in the Arab world. She moderated the launching of the largest campaign against discrimination organized by the French football federation “Une seule couleur, celle du maillot”. She recently was the Master of ceremony for a High-Level Meeting on Skills in the Mediterranean organized by the European Commission.

Cultural Visionary and Government Advisor: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Impactful Cultural Initiatives

Preceding this, Lynn was a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Culture for 8 years resigning after the Beirut port explosion on August 4, 2020. In parallel, and since 2019, she was part of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers team as a Cultural Advisor.

At the Ministry of Culture, Lynn launched a large number of Cultural projects and events in Lebanon, including the annual Museums Night, considered the first free cultural event organized by a public entity in Lebanon, the Lebanese Contemporary Art Virtual Museum, (a first in the Middle East), the exhibition of archaeological objects at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, the Ministry of Culture booth at the Paris book exhibition as well as numerous projects to support the cultural sector.

Her responsibilities also included establishing the Oscars committee at the Ministry of Culture (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020). In addition, she was in charge of selecting artists, submitting files, and managing Lebanon’s candidacy to various international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennials, the London design Biennale and the Milan Triennial. In 2016, she organized and launched a national workshop to foster greater access for people with disabilities to the Lebanese cultural life.

Empowering the Cultural Sector Amidst Crisis: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Initiatives During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Lynn remained very active in supporting the Cultural sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. She launched an online survey on the impact of Covid-19 on the Cultural sector in collaboration with the French institute in Lebanon. She also organized an online concert with the National Oriental Orchestra and organized an awareness Covid 19 online campaign using the artefacts of the National Museum on the occasion of the international Museums Day. Lynn coordinated the organization of the Baalbeck International festival’s first and only concert held without public, after the Covid 19 lockdown, a first in the Middle East.

Strategic Media Leadership and Cultural Advocacy: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Impactful Career

In parallel she produced and hosted a radio show on Nostalgie in collaboration with the European delegation in Lebanon called: Un jour. Une femme. Un projet, where she received every week a successful woman whose work had an impact on the community. In March 2022, she interviewed the European ambassador to Lebanon, to discuss the women empowerment of the European union in Lebanon.
Previously, Lynn had spent 5 years as a Media Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic of Lebanon where she managed communication and press relations as well as cultural activities. She also prepared the Presidency files covering financial aid to various Lebanese associations.

Multimedia Journalism Expertise and Academic Leadership: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Career Highlights

Before moving back to Lebanon, Lynn used to be a Paris based multimedia journalist (TV and Internet) for FRANCE 24 news channel where she covered international news and conducted field reports for the Arabic, French & English channels and website specially in the cultural field. In addition, she presented a
weekly press review of the Arab media for all 3 channels. Since 2010, Lynn has been a part-time Professor at Saint Joseph university teaching Public Relations / Press Relations to students in the Advertising & Sales Masters.

Academic Excellence and Social Advocacy: Lynn Tehini Kassatly’s Diverse Achievements

Lynn holds a bachelor’s degree in Media and Communications and a master’s degree in Bi-lingual Journalism from the Sorbonne University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in International relations from Sciences-Po Paris and a Masters in Law from Saint Joseph University as well as a special certificate in Cultural Management delivered by the “Ecole Nationale d’administration” (the National Public Service Institute in France).

Very active in the social sector, Lynn is part of several NGOs including Lebanon of Tomorrow (board member) and Cenacle de la Lumiere. She is also a member of Baalbeck International Festival General Assembly and the Murex Jury Committee. Lynn Tehini Kassatly was honoured with the L’Oréal Award Prize for her exceptional contributions to cultural advocacy and media leadership.
