Becoming a mother will not limit your dreams

Born as a little girl with a dream slowly growing with you, maturing into a young woman, entering the business world, and making the wonderful yet difficult decision to start a family and become a mother. This is the story of various women thriving as entrepreneurs showing an empowering side that will gently reflect on their Motherhood.

Being a mom is surely not easy, then how can businesswomen manage their working life and motherhood?

If you think that you cannot make it or have a doubt, you are wrong. You can achieve a work-life balance to take responsibility for your duties as a mom and thrive in your career.

I believe that every woman gifted with a child is also gifted with superpowers that allow her to surpass every difficulty and keep being strong when tired, sick, exhausted, sad, down, etc.

Are you struggling to achieve a work-life balance?  Keep reading to be equipped with the know-how and right skillset to succeed in your professional and personal life.

It’s a nice notion to think that there is a manual for work-life balance. We can spend a whole lifetime trying to make it “work,” but we’ll always feel like we’re mis-stepping somewhere. Truth is, we’re most probably doing better than we give ourselves credit for.

There is no right or wrong way to go about this. Women are superheroes when it comes to multitasking, and motherhood is yet another mantle that they carry with fierce passion and determination. Women are also known to “make it work no matter what, and against all odds.”

This is the mindset that allows us to be able to be everywhere, attend to everything, and care for everyone. It’s a predisposed layer of awesomeness that resides in each one: a natural instinct to protect, to succeed when we put our mind to it, and lead by example. So, is there a work-life balance cheat-sheet that we can follow?

No, but we make it work, we find the right support system, the adequate pattern for our family, and the right dynamics that allow us both to be the woman that can chase her dreams and the mother that can proudly do it all. Marita Kassis

As Marita Kassis said, there are no rules to achieve this balance and create harmony between your professional and personal life. Mona AlHebsi is providing some tips to help you find a way towards achieving this goal.

Maintaining harmony between family and career can be a tough feat for the majority of women, but with a little planning and preparation, it’s definitely achievable. Here are some practical solutions to help you as a woman integrate your family and childcare responsibilities with your professional and corporate obligations:

Schedule, schedule, schedule: Use a planner or a digital calendar to organize your work and family obligations, and make sure to stick to it as much as possible.

Make the most of your time: Utilize your breaks or downtime at work to catch up on family tasks, such as making phone calls to schedule appointments or responding to messages from your children’s caregivers.

Share the load: Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to your partner, family members or caregivers, and ask for help when you need it.

Be realistic: Accept that you won’t be able to do everything, and prioritize the tasks that matter most to you and your family.

Take care of yourself: Remember to make time for self-care and activities that you enjoy. Taking care of your own needs will allow you to better care for your family and succeed at work.

Remember, working moms, you are superheroes! By following these practical solutions and finding a balance that works for you and your family, you can have it all. Mona AlHebsi

Most importantly, every mother should know what to prioritize to be able to achieve a balance, because some aspects of life need more time and effort than others.

Here are some experiences from working moms who successfully achieved a balance based on priorities to prove that nothing is impossible when you combine dedication, passion, and love.

As a mom of 3, I believe that balancing my professional and personal life is essential. For that, I shifted towards a career I really love and enjoy, I learned to set boundaries, prioritize self-care time, disconnect, spend quality time with my family and ask for help when I need it! Joelle Chaaya

Being a mother of three while holding leadership positions requires me to first emphasize the necessity of planning in my daily actions and routines, as well as establishing my life priorities. While discussing productivity and organization through structure, planning, and delegating, self-care is an essential component. Said that clearly setting boundaries is necessary for not taking on unnecessary duties, as well as prioritizing relaxation or self-care activity, taking care of myself would reflect on the care I give to my family. Furthermore, I tried numerous times to involve my family, particularly my children, in decision-making processes, whereby I sought their opinions on some work-related matters, as I believe that an outsider’s perspective can add value despite his or her lack of knowledge in the field, and the most motivation I get is when I see them proud of the mother they have. Nada Mallah

I passionately believe that life should always come first and work should take a back seat, not the other way around. As a devoted mother, I know that the most crucial thing my family needs is for me to be happy. A mother who is fully alive and present is a force to be reckoned with. She has the power to nurture in a way that cannot be matched. She models the true essence of motherhood by overcoming any obstacle that comes her way, whether it be in the workplace or in life. There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to show up for those we love with all of our energy, passion, and strength. And that’s exactly what I aim to do every single day – because at the end of it all, it’s not about what we accomplish at work, but the memories and life accomplishments we create with the ones we hold dear. Dr. Zeina Ghoussoub

As a mother, achieving work-life balance can be challenging, but it’s essential to prioritize both aspects of your life. Discuss equitable solutions at work, such as negotiating flexible working hours or remote work options. You can also manage your time at home by delegating tasks to family members or outsourcing household chores, and sharing responsibilities to take some of the load off. Remember to take care of yourself too, prioritize self-care, and make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Finally, communication is key. Make sure you have open and honest conversations with your partner, children, and employer or business partner about your needs. With dedication and smart planning, it’s possible to achieve a work-life balance that allows you to excel at both. Senela Jayasuriya

Finally, it is our duty today to thank every mother in every possible way for her love, care, and for raising us into the people we are today.

If you have a dream, becoming a mother will not ruin it, rather, it will motivate you to succeed and set a good example for your child. Stand tall, thrive, and proudly show your successful side while maintaining your gentle and soft soul as a mother.

Happy Mother’s Day from Executive-Women Family!
