L’ORÉAL SUPPORTS THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 IN LEBANON

L'oreal Lebanon

L’Oréal Levant announced the launch of its solidarity program today to support stakeholders involved in the fight against COVID-19 in Lebanon.

This program aims at supporting hospitals and healthcare professionals who are on the front-line of the fight to curb the spread of virus, as well as non-profit organizations committed to protecting the country’s most vulnerable communities.

Below are the details of the solidarity actions taken by L’Oréal Levant:

  1. Solidarity with healthcare professionals:

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the group has mobilized its plants around the world to produce Hydro-Alcoholic Gels. In collaboration with the Lebanese Dermatology Society, L’Oréal Levant distributed large quantities of hydro-alcoholic gels – under its La Roche-Posay brand – to Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) to support the safety of medical teams at the forefront of the fight against the virus in the country. Additional units will be distributed to partner doctors and pharmacists across the country.

  1. Showing appreciation to nurses in the frontlines:

During the last few months, nurses were fighting this pandemic relentlessly, putting their health and lives at risk every day and neglecting their wellbeing for the common good. To show solidarity and gratitude for their outstanding sense of duty, Lancôme offered Rafik Hariri University Hospital’s nurses gift bags with beauty products.

  1. Support to vulnerable communities:

To help people whose situation is getting worse during covid-19 lockdown, L’Oréal Paris partnered with the Lebanese Food bank and “Min Albi” NGO to donate more than 3,000 units of essential hygiene products – shampoos, shower gels, and deodorants – to the most vulnerable families to help them through this difficult economic phase.

  1. Engaging employees through match-funding campaign to the Lebanese Food Bank:

To encourage employees to take part in L’Oréal Levant’s solidarity program, the company organized a garage sale, the proceeds of which were directed to the Lebanese Food Bank, providing food supplies enough to cover the needs of 70 vulnerable families for a period of one month. To match employees’ donation, L’Oréal Levant donated IT equipment to be distributed to underprivileged families, in a time of online schooling.

“In this unprecedented crisis, it is our responsibility to contribute to the collective effort. Through these actions, we express our recognition, our support and our solidarity towards those who are demonstrating extraordinary courage and selflessness in their efforts to combat the COVID-19 and to vulnerable communities that are the most affected”,commented Philippe Patsalides, Managing Director of L’Oréal Levant.

Globally, since mid-March, L’Oréal has actively responded to the emergency with a solidarity plan where approximately 14 million units of hand sanitizers and over 4.3 million products where donated to healthcare professionals, employees of partner retail customers and suppliers.
