Authenticity, adventure, freedom and passion are values that the Jeep brand conveys to those who experience the emotion of driving a Jeep vehicle. In the new Jeep Cherokee that I drove recently with a group of fellow female petrol heads to different parts of Sicily, these values are combined with high levels of comfort, capability, safety and state-of-the-art technology.
With its off-road attitude and its capability to ease itself through in the city, we experienced comfort, connectivity, safety and convenience maneuvering the new Cherokee through highways and the countryside enjoying first hand its drive capability and turned heads with its distinctive design.
During the road trip, we also visited Sicilian coastal areas and found the new Jeep Cherokee drove through narrow roads with ease and performed off the beaten track as a capable mid-sized SUV for adventure seekers.
The exterior design of the Jeep Cherokee remains true to the brand’s DNA with a new fascia, standard full LED headlamps, daylight running lamps (DRL) and fog lamps surrounded by bright trim details. The signature hood has a new lightweight aluminum structure and is separate from the front fenders, further contributing to the Cherokee’s distinctive look.
Our road trip adventure in the Jeep Cherokee meant having ample storage for the long drive and an open-air driving experience with the CommandView dual-pane power sunroof, which extends from the windshield to the rear of the vehicle and is available as an option.
The interior of the Jeep Cherokee offers refined and elegant features such as the stylish Piano Black and Satin Chrome finish on the radio, climate control vents and gear shifter bezels, creating a tailored and harmonious
look. The 7-inch colour display shows information that the driver can easily configure, including turn-by-turn navigation, speed, real-time fuel economy, safety warnings, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, audio information and Jeep-specific features, such as the Selec-Terrain system.
Jeep Cherokee engines can be paired with the upgraded nine-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The upgraded nine-speed transmission uses new control software to further refine drivability, ensure aggressive launches, smooth power delivery at highway speeds and improve fuel efficiency.
The new Jeep Cherokee also receives the latest UconnectTM systems, delivering communication, entertainment and navigation features and other innovations designed to enhance both the driving experience and onboard comfort with internet, music, radio and navigation with live traffic information.
The ParkSense Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist feature remains a highlight of the new Jeep Cherokee as it controls the steering angle automatically and the driver controls the gear position, brake, and accelerator. Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus with Stop & Go is significant for its ability to bring the vehicle to a complete stop without driver intervention.
The LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus uses a camera-based vision sensor to establish the Jeep Cherokee’s position on the road. We were told the car can also be equipped with Mopar® Connect, the innovative set of vehicle safety, security and remote control services that enables users to locate their parked car easily and view information about its state and fuel level.
Buyers of the new Jeep Cherokee have a choice of 10 different exterior colors: Bright White, Diamond Black, Velvet Red, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Light Brownstone, Firecracker Red, Hydro Blue and two all-new colors – Olive Green and Pearl White.
The new Jeep Cherokee is designed to offer drivers peace of mind, using the most advanced technology to keep them safe and secure at every turn as they explore their wild side.
